Line is the most essential element of design because it divides areas into shapes &spaces
Horizontal/Straight Lines -Lines that going across the garment that make the eyes move from side to side giving the illusion of width. Horizontal lines create a feeling of stability & restfulness.
Vertical/Straight Lines-Lines going up & down giving the illusion of more height and less width. Vertical lines can create a taller & thinner look. Vertical lines give a feeling of strength, dignity, and formality.
Curved & Zig-Zag Lines- Lines that are not straight, adding curve and interest to a garment. The illusion of the body created depends on the thickness & direction of the line(s).
